               Early Post-Secondary Opportunity: Northeast State ENGL 1010
               Prerequisite: Students earning a final grade of A-B in English 11 CP or encouraged to consider enrolling in
               Dual Enrollment English. Minimum ACT English sub-score of 18 and reading sub-score of 19.  Students who have not
               taken the ACT and had their score reported to DB by May will be dropped from Dual Enrollment classes.
               Composition I introduces expository writing with particular emphasis on critical thinking and argumentation.  Successful
               students master the entire writing process, including research techniques for the production of a formally documented
               paper. With successful completion of this course, students will earn 3 credit hours from Northeast State. This course is an
               approved course for the Tennessee Board of Regents and Northeast State’s General Education Core and is designed for
               transfer. This course will count as an English elective.  There is a fee involved with this course.

               Composition II focuses on effective expository writing techniques through reading, analyzing and interpreting short fiction,
               drama, poetry, and non-fiction.  Critical thinking, argumentation and logic are emphasized. With successful completion of
               this course, students will earn 3 credit hours from Northeast State. This course is an approved course for the Tennessee
               Board of Regents and Northeast State’s General Education Core and is designed for transfer. This will count as the English
               12 requirement for graduation. There is a fee involved with this course.

               This course is designed for students wanting to improve ACT scores or that have not met college ready benchmarks.
               This course will encompass focusing on deficiencies and introducing strategies to assist students in meeting educational
               ACT goals.   Students will be given subject specific items on which to focus in order to improve overall performance on
               the ACT.

               Senior Transition

               This course will focus on maximizing support and providing resources and skills to not only get to college but to complete
               college. This course is designed to address the needs and interests of all seniors as they prepare for the next steps after
               graduation. It will emphasize the college process, self-assessment and self-direction, current issues, team building,
