This course teaches visual design and art production with an emphasis placed on the Design Principles and the use of
the Elements of Art. The processes of Printmaking and simple Screen Printing will be a large focus of the course, as well
as various other art media and techniques. Students will learn historical context and applicable artists related to the
techniques and processes explored. Students are expected to produce high quality work with an emphasis on excellence
in craftsmanship.

This course introduces the student to the art of making functional pottery and sculpture. Students work individually to
develop their own skills. Students will learn traditional ceramic hand-building techniques to create a variety of art objects.
A portion of the course will focus on pottery made on the potter’s wheel. Students will experiment with hand-built objects
as well as creations made on the potter's wheel.

This course builds on skills learned in Ceramics. This class allows students to explore glazing for cone 6 including glaze
chemistry, how to load and fire kilns, and to explore advanced techniques and methods of creating functional pieces on
the potter’s wheel. The course is intended for students who have exceptional ability and interest in three-dimensional art.

Drawing is composed of a series of techniques, practice work, and finished products. Craftsmanship and creativity are
encouraged through the student's finished work. Students learn to record texture, structure, value, and shape through
drawing. The students develop drawings in various media, which could include pencil, colored pencil, pen and ink, etc.
The student is encouraged to develop skills, craftsmanship, and a personal style.
