Contemporary A Cappella (in the style of Pentatonix) is a VOICES ONLY performance group using modern genres of

music from the 20 and 21 centuries, including barbershop, doo-wop, hip-hop, jazz, pop, R&B, and rock. More than
one group may be formed depending on class enrollment. The Contemporary A Cappella groups perform at concerts,
schools, community functions, festivals, and clinics. This course requires frequent after school rehearsals, sound
checks, and performances. Yearly auditions are offered in early February.

Prerequisite: None: No auditions necessary
STUDIO 13 is an introductory choir class. Studio 13 develops basic music literacy and prepares students for higher-level
chorus classes. Students will learn basic fundamentals of vocal music including notation, vocabulary, sight-reading and
part independence, and choral rehearsal procedures. Studio 13 performs at scheduled concerts and events. This course
requires one after school rehearsal prior to each scheduled performance. Incoming 9th grade students who have
participated in middle school choir will be admitted to the DB choir program through middle school teacher
recommendations. Other students seeking to enter the choir program for the first time should meet with the DB choir
teacher prior to enrolling when possible.

Prerequisite: Audition
Concert Choir is an intermediate choir that performs choral literature from diverse musical periods including patriotic,
sacred, and secular styles. Students learn to master advanced fundamentals of music including notation, vocabulary,
sight-reading and part independence. Concert choir performs at concerts, schools, community functions, district/state
festivals, and clinics. This course requires after school rehearsals prior to scheduled performances. Yearly auditions are
offered in early February. Rising Freshmen, of advanced skill, musicality, and maturity may audition for limited spots in
the concert choir, at the end of the 8 grade year.
